This webinar from Greenpeace Aotearoa entitled: "The methane moment – the campaign for the climate and the future of food " provides a solid introduction to some of the many facts of this hugely important issue.

Hosted by Niamh Flynn from Greenpeace, the panellists include:

  • Shane Ward - Agroecologist, regenerative land use designer/adviser, communicator and the founder of Action Ecology
  • Pere Huriwai-Seger (Ngāpuhi, Ngati Porou and Te Āti Awa) - Aotearoa Liberation League, co-producer of the documentary MILKED and content creator for the NZ Vegan Society
  • Christine Rose - Lead climate campaigner at Greenpeace Aotearoa.

While time doesn't allow for a deep dive into any one part of it, the discussion ranges across topics such as industrial agriculture, colonial legacy, New Zealand dairy farming, food sovereignty and regenerative agriculture (just to name a few).

Hopefully this is just the start of a series of meaningful discussions around these topics that can bridge both land steward and the environmental movement - two groups that undoubtably should be allies in the fight to regenerate our landscapes and provide a healthy diverse food system for all that nurtures biodiversity.
